Block-chain Architecture Has The Capacity To Make Government Operations Efficient At All Levels

By Chioma Okehie
The Abuja block chain and digital assets conference 2019 has eventually come and this years own takes place between yesterday 4th and today 5th October in Abuja at Sheraton Hotels.
The theme Block Chain Trust – Architecture for Governance and Public service delivery is apt.
Mr. Chuta Chiemezie
The Convener Mr Chuta  Chimezie in his opening address posed a big question quoted verbatim and goes this way, Will African Governments and her Regulators be Architects of the future or victims of it.
This question arose at this time when trust in Nigeria government and indeed most African Governments is steadily on the decline for decades.
He emphatically addressed the opaque and complex nature of many government programmes and processes leading to real or  perceived corruption and abuse of power. These he  said is what block-chain has come to address.
Blockchain – based solutions has the potential to make government operations at different levels more efficient, increase citizens participation in governance, and improve  delivery of public services, while simultaneously increasing overall trust in the public sector.
Again smart contracts combined with intelligent/process automation and blockchain’s ability to store transaction in open immutable and accountable ways mean that government become more effective. This year’s conference brought together people from all walks of life who are either in the block chain space or are in Governments and youths are not left behind.
